Finding Purpose in Service
In over 15 years within the aviation industry, I’ve come to understand that while passion fuels the journey, it’s purpose that gives it a true sense of direction and depth. My career began with the U.S. Air Force, where I was thrown into the intensive demands of aircraft maintenance, tasked with ensuring planes operated at peak performance, regardless of the conditions. It was a world where there was little room for error; precision and dedication were the norms. The responsibilities were daunting but incredibly rewarding, and it was there that my sense of purpose took root. I quickly realized that my work was part of a much larger mission, and this purpose became my guiding compass. Each day brought new challenges, and my purpose in serving others through safe and reliable aviation gave me the resilience needed to overcome them. It became the foundation of my career, influencing every decision and guiding me through the inevitable ups and downs of the industry.
A Shift to Private Sector Consulting
As I transitioned from military service to the private sector, my career began to evolve in ways I hadn’t anticipated. While my role and environment changed, my purpose remained as steady as ever, providing continuity as I navigated unfamiliar territory. Taking on the role of an independent consultant, I had the privilege of working with a diverse array of clients, from high-ranking government officials to CEOs and VVIP clients with specialized aviation needs. This new phase of my career brought opportunities to work across the globe. Whether I was collaborating with teams in North and South America, consulting for projects in Europe, or tackling unique challenges in East Asia and the Middle East, I saw how aviation serves as a bridge between worlds and cultures, connecting people across vast distances. Each project came with its own intricacies and complexities, yet the impact of my work was a powerful motivator. This desire to create something meaningful fueled my decision to start Lie Alonso with Valeria and Diana, uniting us under a shared vision. We believed deeply that to build something soulful and enduring is one of the highest forms of service, and we were committed to creating a company that would embody this principle in every aspect.
The Alignment of Passion and Purpose
Through all of these experiences, I’ve come to believe that when passion and purpose align, work takes on a deeper level of significance. It’s no longer just about designing jets or solving engineering challenges; it becomes about the impact and the meaning behind each project. Knowing that my skills, dedication, and expertise are contributing to something greater than myself is what gives my work a profound sense of fulfillment. I don’t just derive joy from the design process or the technical challenges we face; I find true satisfaction in the knowledge that the work we do resonates on a larger scale, impacting clients, colleagues, and even communities. This alignment of purpose and passion has transformed my career into something more than just a job; it’s become a calling, one that I am excited to continue nurturing, shaping, and sharing with others.
Leaving a Legacy Beyond Time
In the end, I am keenly aware that whatever we build or create will one day fade—it’s the natural cycle of creation and dissolution that touches everything in life. This awareness, however, grounds me, reminding me to focus on what truly matters in the present: the stunning, customized designs we’re crafting for clients and the shared joy, connection, and love that surround our work. Beyond the physical achievements and tangible results, I believe that our experiences are what endure the longest. They are what we carry forward, sharing them with family, friends, and others, leaving an indelible impact on future generations. That, ultimately, is our purpose: to create moments that resonate, to craft beauty that’s shared, and to cultivate experiences that live on, touching lives long after our work is done.
