In over a decade in the luxury industry designing private jets, here are 3 things I’ve learned:
I. Traditional is not timeless
We’ve all witnessed interiors adorned with beige on beige, excessive ornamentation, and ostentatious 24K gold. However, with the passage of time, these designs tend to lose their luster and fail to stand the test of time. So, how can we create interiors that truly embody timelessness?
The answer lies in reconnecting with our roots, tracing our lineage back through the annals of history, and rediscovering the essence of our humanity. It is in this exploration of our origins that we find inspiration for a future that transcends the limitations of time.
The Lie Alonso Dynasty proposes a vision known as the Ancient Future — a harmonious fusion of ancient wisdom and contemporary design. This vision embraces a connection to the Divine, the timeless, the Eternal. By drawing from these profound influences, we can create spaces that resonate with a timeless beauty and transcend the confines of passing trends.
In embracing the Ancient Future, we embark on a journey that honours our heritage while crafting spaces that embody enduring elegance and soulfulness.
II. Functionality is not everything
The obsession with functionality at the expense of beauty is a recurring theme that I have encountered far too frequently. It disregards the significance of aesthetics and the impact they have on our well-being.
As Carl Jung wisely noted, “Enchantment is the oldest form of medicine.” Beauty holds the power to heal and nourish our souls. It inspires us, allows us to appreciate the world around us, and enchants our senses.
Therefore, it is crucial to carve out space in our lives for beauty. By embracing beauty, we invite moments of inspiration and enchantment, adding depth and richness to our existence.
Let beauty be a guiding force that elevates our daily experiences and enriches our journey.
III. Less is… less
Let’s delve into the concept of minimalism, a prevailing trend in our contemporary world.
Minimalism is often associated with spaces that lack character, emotion, uniqueness, and creative flair. While such spaces may fulfill their intended function, we want to present an alternative viewpoint.
Life is a tapestry of intricate details, woven together by the richness of our experiences. It is through these experiences that we find meaning and stories worth telling.
Colours, textures, and details act as the threads that bring vibrancy to our lives. They serve as reminders of our identity and the aspirations we hold dear.
Designing interiors that evoke ease, grace, and wonder is a testament to the essence of our existence. Embracing exuberance is not a compromise but a celebration of life’s abundant possibilities.
So how do we design luxury jets & interiors?
In conclusion, these three interconnected topics — the balance between minimalism and exuberance, functionality and beauty, and the concept of the Ancient Future — invite us to reconsider our approach to design and the spaces we inhabit.
Minimalism x Exuberance
Minimalism, when approached with intention, allows us to strip away the excess and embrace the power of simplicity. It encourages us to focus on the details that bring meaning and depth to our lives, creating spaces that resonate with our true selves. Creating richness around simple structures is how we create exuberance.
Functionality x Beauty
While functionality is undoubtedly important, we must not overlook the transformative influence of beauty. Beauty nourishes our souls, inspires us, and adds enchantment to our daily experiences. By making room for beauty in our lives, we create environments that uplift and inspire us on a profound level.
Traditional x The Ancient Future
Lastly, the concept of the Ancient Future beckons us to honor our roots, connect with the timeless wisdom of our ancestors, and infuse our designs with a sense of spiritual depth and meaning. It invites us to transcend the limitations of time and embrace a harmonious balance between the past, present, and future.
Incorporating these principles into our approach to design allows us to craft spaces that are not only visually appealing but also deeply meaningful and enduring. By consciously considering minimalism while deepening with exuberance, embracing the interplay between functionality and beauty, and drawing inspiration from the Ancient Future, we can create environments that reflect our essence, provide solace, and inspire us to lead lives of purpose and fulfillment. Let us embark on this transformative journey, where design becomes a conduit for self-expression, connection, and the celebration of the human spirit.
